DESCRIPTION:En el moment d’escriure aquesta Sonata per a violí i piano\, Schubert s’havia fet un lloc al món musical vienès com a compositor simfònic i de lieder. Tot i així\, la música de cambra sempre va formar part de la pràctica musical quotidiana\, en família i entre amics. Aquesta sonata és molt personal\, i lluny de la influència del seu admirat Mozart\, i té un grau de dificultat tècnica superior a les sonates anteriors per a violí. De forma similar\, l’última Sonata per a violí de Johannes Brahms\, en quatre moviments i dedicada a Hans von Bülow\, és extremadament concisa i dramàtica\, en contrast amb les anteriors i en consonància amb altres obres de la mateixa època. Escrita gairebé un segle abans\, la sonata de Beethoven dedicada a Rodolphe Kreutzer —que mai no va tocar— ha inspirat novel·les\, quadres i simfonies. Una obra inusual tant per l’exigència tècnica de la part de violí com per la diversitat d’afectes i emocions que recorre entre la fúria\, la contemplació i l’alegria final.
