One day, Starfucker decided to drop the vowels from their name to become STRFKR. A few letters might indeed be dispensable for this Portland band, which started as Joshua Hodgens’s personal project, but many other things have not been, are not, and will never be. It is clear after nearly twenty years of playing with electronic pop that STRFKR does not hold back on anything related to emotion, which once again overflows in every winning chorus of Parallel Realms, their most recent album. Synthesizers shine brightly, epic choruses, and little details that lodge in your brain and stick to your memories like Velcro. STRFKR definitely does not skimp on the emotion wrapped in synth-pop.
The tour presenting Parallel Realms will bring STRFKR to Barcelona for the first time in more than a decade this autumn. Hodgens and his bandmates will present their seventh album at the Wolf venue on November 1.
