Matter Matters.Dissenyar amb el món. New exhibition at DHub

Matter Matters. Dissenyar amb el món is the new permanent exhibition at Museu del Disseny – DHub

Through the materiality of the pieces from the Museu del Disseny collection and innovative contemporary works, the exhibition questions the extractivist model and proposes seeking regenerative alternatives. It reflects on the major challenges of current and future design at a critical moment marked by the scarcity of raw materials and the urgent need to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

Matter Matters examines the collection and juxtaposes it with the systems that organize the world through its materiality. Using the installation, the exhibition explores the overlapping boundaries between design, ecology, and geopolitics. It is a reflection on the state of the world today and a journey through the history of design in all its disciplines.

Starting February 21, 2025

Presentation of the publication Matter Matters. Dissenyar amb el món

To mark the opening of the new exhibition, on Tuesday, March 4, at 6:00 PM, DHub will present the publication of the same title, featuring Olga Subirós, curator of the exhibition, Jose Luis de Vicente, director of Museu del Disseny, and some of the book’s co-authors.

With contributions from 54 authors from various disciplines—including philosophy, design, architecture, sociology, geology, anthropology, and chemistry, among others—this work explores and connects lines of thought that converge on a pressing issue: redefining our relationship with materials in a time of historical change.
