CAMARAC announces the selected artists for the Refugi Sonor project

The collective CAMARAC announces the selected sound artists who will participate in the Refugi Sonor project, a sound installation that will transform the Poblenou neighborhood from June 29 to July 1, 2026. This proposal will be part of the official program of the World Capital of Architecture 2026 and will be an installation that encourages reflection on the city’s noise pollution.

Refugi Sonor will feature ephemeral pavilions offering a space to escape urban noise for 72 consecutive hours. In each pavilion, visitors will immerse themselves in sound compositions created exclusively from natural sounds recorded in different locations across Catalonia, aiming to raise awareness of noise pollution and reflect on the relationship between nature, sound, and quality of life.

The winning sound artists are:

The winners were selected by the project’s sound curator, Maties Palau, and the project is under the artistic direction of curator Mark Vasilyev. This initiative has been entirely developed by the team of the association CAMARAC.
