Piramidón, Centre d’Art Contemporani announces the winner of the Barcelona Crea 2026 Grant.

After receiving nearly one hundred proposals from artists connected to the city of Barcelona, the jury — formed by the team at Piramidón, Centre d’Art Contemporani and a member of ICUB — has decided to award the Barcelona Crea 2026 Grant to Carla García Castelló.

The artist develops a practice rooted in the observation of everyday spaces and the small details that often go unnoticed. Her work focuses on the banal and routine, paying attention to how minimal variations can transform the way we perceive objects and environments. She works mainly with painting — especially oil painting and drawing — exploring layers, transparencies, and atmospheres, while also incorporating archival material, photography, and writing.

During her residency at Piramidón, she will develop the project “Ara, que ja hi som totes”,  focused on the spaces she inhabits between Barcelona, Cambrils, and Lleida. Through contemplation and movement across these places, she gathers fragments, shapes, and objects that she later reinterprets pictorially, generating new images that move between memory, perception, and imagination. Her pieces are conceived as meeting spaces where these elements coexist and build their own visual narrative.
