Teatre Nacional de Catalunya presents the new 2026–2027 season

The Teatre Nacional de Catalunya (TNC) opens its new season with a programme that combines great classics, contemporary Catalan stage creation and international productions. An agenda that, through June 2027, will feature theatre, dance, music and other performing arts productions across its different venues.

Repetir, repetir, repetir is the show by Sílvia Pérez Cruz that will open the season this Friday the 19th; a special concert commemorating the tenth anniversary of her album Vestida de nit, for which she has brought together the same team she worked with at the time.

Among the first theatrical premieres, El Cadell, by Josep Maria Miró, stands out, with Miró also directing the production. This new TNC season also revisits some of the major names in Catalan literature, including Mercè Rodoreda, whose work L’hostal de les tres Camèlies will arrive at the Sala Gran under the direction of Carme Portaceli. Pere Calders will also be revisited in Calderada, a creation by Jordi Oriol, while Magda Puyo will bring the world of Montserrat Roig to the stage in Roig i violeta.

International classics will also play a prominent role. Songe, directed by Marcial Di Fonzo Bo, sketches out a dialogue between Shakespeare and Lorca, while La Mare Coratge i els seus fills, by Bertolt Brecht and directed by Josep Maria Mestres, will be presented at the Sala Gran in the final stretch of the season.

The programme also turns its attention to new dramaturgies and theatrical languages. The Sala Tallers will host productions such as Tenet, by Eunoia Kolektiva, La ràbia, by Josep Julien, and 450 Volts, while companies such as Agrupación Señor Serrano will bring their distinctive intersection of theatre, technology and experimentation.

The international presence will be particularly visible in Barber Shop Chronicles, by Inua Ellams, and through the dance production Delay the Sadness, by S-E-D (Sharon Eyal Dance). There will also be room for fully international companies such as the Lebanese company Zoukak.

The journey will conclude in June 2027 with 00:01 La Creación, by Angélica Liddell, bringing to a close a season that seeks to combine memory and contemporaneity, bringing together established authors and new voices in stage creation.

With this programme, the TNC once again positions itself as a meeting point between different generations and ways of understanding the performing arts. A season to discover the Catalan stage scene of yesterday and today while, at the same time, opening a window onto some of the most interesting productions on the international scene.
