This Thursday, October 1, ruiz+company presents Tempus fugit, the new photobook by photographer Sergi Capellas. The publication brings together a selection of images taken in different geographical locations and across different periods of time, with design playing a fundamental role in shaping the narrative.
The project is based on a universal idea: time passes, but photography has the ability to stop it. Capellas uses the medium to capture a moment and turn it into a fragment of memory that endures even after the photographic instant has disappeared before his eyes.
For more than a year, Sergi Capellas and ruiz+company have worked together to translate this idea throughout the publication. Typefaces, papers, words and textures enter into dialogue with the photographer’s images, making the book part of the experience and allowing design and photography to complement one another in constructing a shared narrative about the passage of time.
Tempus fugit is conceived as a visual and material reflection on the instant and memory, while also highlighting photography’s ability to make permanent that which is inevitably destined to disappear.
Based in Poblenou, Barcelona, ruiz+company is a design and creative direction studio that develops strategies, concepts and visual codes to help brands differentiate themselves and connect with people.
Although its work focuses primarily on creative direction and brand design, ruiz+company also develops editorial projects in which design takes on a narrative dimension.
