SUMMARY:[:ca]Exposició: "Enric Majoral. La joia expandida"[:es]Exposición: "Enric Majoral. La joia expandida"[:en]Exhibition: "Enric Majoral. La joia expandida"[:]
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition dedicated to the jeweller Enric Majoral. \nBorn in Sabadell in 1949\, Enric Majoral is one of the key names in contemporary Catalan jewellery. The jeweller’s close relationship with Formentera has marked his creations\, which he himself defines as “essence of Formentera”. Mayoral has delved into the world of traditional crafts\, drawing inspiration from archaic forms and using the quintessential jewellery materials\, gold and silver\, full of symbolism and multiple meanings. A member of the FAD\, he was president of Orfebres FAD from 1992 to 1997. In 2007 he received the National Crafts Prize from the Ministry of Industry. \nThe exhibition is organised by the Museu del Disseny in collaboration with the A-FAD. \nCurator \nMaya Cruces

SUMMARY:[:ca]Teatre: Zona inundable[:es]Teatro: Zona inundable[:en]Theater: Zona inundable[:]
DESCRIPTION:A mosaic of solidarity\, ecology and memory based on real events \nSant Llis\, October 2018. After four hours of intense rain\, a torrent overflows its banks\, flooding a small town in Mallorca and causing eleven deaths\, several injuries and much material damage.\nVery soon a wave of reactions is unleashed: an explosion of unprecedented solidarity and media coverage that raises more and more doubts. Could the tragedy have been avoided? Did the emergency protocols work? Why does building continue on the banks of torrents?

SUMMARY:[:ca]Teatre: Silencio[:es]Teatro: Silencio[:en]Theater: Silencio[:]
DESCRIPTION:Blanca Portillo stars in an intense monologue about the power of silence \nDressed in a dress suit in which he does not quite feel comfortable\, the playwright is going to enter the Academy giving a speech entitled Silence. \nHe has chosen to speak about silence in life and in the theater. He also travels through theatrical silences that resonate in his memory and in his body. \nBut perhaps this very silence endangers the discourse. Perhaps the most important thing is\, above and below the words\, to listen to the silence together.

SUMMARY:[:ca]Teatre: Viatge d’hivern[:es]Teatro: Viatge d’hivern[:en]Theater: Viatge d’hivern[:]
DESCRIPTION:The work Viatge d’hivern\, inspired by Franz Schubert’s Winterreise song cycles\, is a journey that Elfriede Jelinek proposes to us through her own experiences\, both artistic and intimate: sexuality mediated by the internet\, the perversion of public opinion \, the cult of youth\, the presence of latent fascism\, the inexorable passage of time\, the love-hate towards her mother\, the dementia and abandonment of her father and the self-criticism of herself as an artist. \nAwarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2004\, the author presents us with a research work where language\, music and movement burst onto the scene like a runaway river\, perverting Schubert\, perverting Jelinek\, dragging us through “the residual waters of our own lives. ” just as she does\, in a piece with dramatic brushstrokes\, a lot of irony and a certain despair.

SUMMARY:MORT I TRANSFIGURACIÓ
DESCRIPTION:Sofya Melikyan & Pascual-Vilaplana\n\n\nDIRECTORY\n\n\n\nManuel de Falla:\n\n\nNoches en los jardines de España \n\n\n (Nights in the Gardens of Spain) (1915) 25’ – Transcription by Joan Lamote de Grignon\n\n\n\n\nGilda Lyons: La flor más linda (2019) 7’\n\n\n\n\nRichard Strauss:\n\n\nDeath and Transfiguration \n\n\n\, Op. 24 (1891) 25’ – Transcription by Lluís Oliva\n\n\n\n\n\nPERFORMERS\n\n\n\nBarcelona Symphonic Band\n\n\n\n\nSofya Melikyan\, piano\n\n\n\n\nJosé R. Pascual-Vilaplana\, conductor\n\n\n\n\n\nPROGRAM\n\n\nThe Romantics pursued the idea of transcendence as an aesthetic and philosophical goal. Richard Strauss’s symphonic poem Tod und Verklärung (Death and Transfiguration) is a paradigmatic example. Rather than following a literary programme laid down beforehand\, the work focuses on the themes of artistic sublimation and eternity. The score portrays mundane events in sound\, such as the uneven beating of the artist’s heart or the description in sound of the moment when his soul leaves his body\, but the backdrop to the work is much more profound. In its final minutes\, the composer endeavoured to convey an emotion that is difficult to put into words. \nNoches en los jardines de España (Nights in the Gardens of Spain)\, by Manuel de Falla\, was first performed in 1916\, a work for piano and symphony orchestra. Originally it was conceived as a series of nocturnes for solo piano\, dedicated to Ricard Viñes\, the pianist from Lleida. It is one of the Andalusian composer’s most international works with features that have close links with the works of the French Debussy and Ravel.

SUMMARY:CÉCILE MCLORIN
DESCRIPTION:PERFORMERS\n\n\n\nCécile McLorin Salvant\, vocals\n\n\n\n\nGlenn Zaleski\, piano\n\n\n\n\nMarvin Sewell\, guitar\n\n\n\n\nPaul Sikivie\, double bass\n\n\nKeita Ogawa\, percussion\n\n\n\nPROGRAM\n\n\nLast year Cécile McLorin Salvant confirmed why she is considered one of today’s outstanding jazz singers. Now she is visiting us again to present her new recording\, Ghost Song\, yet another display of the vocal and emotional depth she is capable of. Using her powerful voice\, with its remarkable range\, she is also highly skilled at telling stories with her songs. A recital by McLorin is not just a succession of tunes\, rather\, it is a dense\, vibrant\, intense narrative. Life itself\, we could say.
