DESCRIPTION:L&B Gallery is pleased to present the latest works of Xavi Muñoz with the solo exhibition “Geosmina”. \nIn the words of Juan Cabello Arribas\, “the artist Xavi Muñoz is a delicate observer. Each of its artifacts -fertile essences of the ecology it inhabits- contain within them the myths and symbolic rituals of a trade to which it dedicates its entire journey: making the invisible visible. DESCRIPTION:Exhibition focusing on wood as a key material at the service of human cultural evolution\, presenting a broad historical overview leading right up to the present day\, with a large section dedicated to current applications of wood (design applied to construction\, cars\, aeronautics\, textiles\, acoustics\, health\, energy and so on)\, that help to support the planet’s sustainability and which serve as a foundation of the circular bioeconomy. \nConsidered from the design perspective\, the exhibition highlights the wooden objects that have represented a turning point in human life from time immemorial to the 21st century. After a period when wood was replaced by other materials in various areas\, the last few decades have seen a recovery and strengthening of design and architecture in wood as a key tool for maintaining quality of life on the planet and halting the current environmental crisis. \nThe exhibition is part of the programme for the annual conference of the European Forest Institute\, which designated Barcelona as European Forest Capital 2022.

Haydn:\n\n\nThe Seven Last Words of Christ \n (1787-1796) 55′\n\n\n\nPERFORMERS\n\n\n\nEnsemble O Vos Omnes\n\n\n\n\nQuartet Gerhard\n\n\n\n\nRoger Illa\, fortepiano\n\n\nXavier Pastrana\, conductor\n\n\n\nPROGRAM\n\n\nThe Seven Last Words of our Saviour on the Cross by Joseph Haydn is one of the works which most closely related this season’s theme – mortality. From the second half of the 18th century onwards\, Haydn’s popularity began to move across international frontiers. In 1786 the Congregation of Santa Cova\, (the Holy Cave)\, in Cadiz commissioned a work for the Good Friday religious ceremony. Through seven ‘sonatas’\, Haydn goes over\, one by one\, the last words that Christ uttered just before he was crucified. Aiming to be completely faithful to the words of the Gospels\, Haydn musically captures very different moods: from the pain of the first word\, to the consolation of the sixth; from the maternal companionship of the third to the bewildering loneliness of the fourth; from the transcendence of the second to the physical suffering of the fifth. In addition to the seven sonatas\, Haydn added an introduction movement and a final “Earthquake” movement\, which is considerably louder and more agitated than the rest of the work.
