It’s been ten years without a new album from D’Angelo, and the world is a little worse off because of it. That void is now being filled by BLK ODYSSY with his expansive R&B, as if he’s the heir to Black Messiah. With R&B constantly trying to reinvent itself with new codes in cycles that seem to end sooner and sooner, BLK ODYSSY champions the classic ways: his groove is built in a real, entirely human way. Just look at his appearance in NPR’s offices, where the New Jersey artist left behind an absolutely healing Tiny Desk performance. BLK ODYSSY will present 1-800, his third album, in Barcelona on October 30th. La Nau will host his first performance in the city as part of the THE FANTASY HOUSE tour.
