Festival Emergents 2026 arrives at L’Auditori

From 13 to 15 February 2026, L’Auditori hosts the ninth edition of Festival Emergents, an event firmly established in Barcelona’s cultural calendar and essential for discovering the national and international artists who will shape the music scene in the coming years.

With a total of 11 concerts and a free Chamber Marathon, the festival brings together young talents destined to become leading figures in symphonic music, chamber music, early music, pop and jazz. Festival Emergents Barcelona thus reaffirms its commitment to promoting emerging talent and showcasing innovative artistic proposals.

Sibelius’ Second

On 13 and 14 February, the Barcelona Symphony and Catalonia National Orchestra (OBC), conducted by Antony Hermus, will perform works by Richard Wagner, Sergei Prokofiev, W. A. Mozart and Jean Sibelius.

The programme, entitled Sibelius’ Second, offers an immersive experience in nature as envisioned by the Finnish composer, featuring Inés Issel Burzyńska and Emma Stratton.

EMMA

On 13 February at 8 pm, the delicacy and refined sound of EMMA’s experimental pop will take the stage with a proposal that blends sensitivity and sonic innovation.

Emergents Marathon – 14 February (free admission)

One of the most anticipated events is the Chamber Marathon, with free admission and no prior booking required (limited capacity). Throughout the day, audiences will enjoy a wide range of ensembles and repertoires:

  • Álfheiður Erla Guðmundsdóttir (12 pm), performing works by Samuel Barber, Nico Muhly, Jean Sibelius and other composers, in a contemporary dialogue with Kunal Lahiry.

  • Cor Jove Nacional de Catalunya (1 pm), conducted by Mireia Barrera, presenting a journey through Catalan choral music from the mid-20th century to today, featuring works by Pau Casals, Feliu Gasull and Benet Casablancas.

  • Valerie Fritz (4 pm), offering intertemporal dialogues connecting Bach with Ligeti and Sciarrino.

  • Álvaro Fernández-Bravo (5 pm), presenting major works from the piano repertoire by Chopin, Debussy and Albéniz.

  • Maat Saxophone Quartet (6 pm), with a programme including George Gershwin and Aleksandra Vrebalov.

  • Xiaolu Zang (7 pm), winner of the Maria Canals Competition, performing a Romantic repertoire including Mompou, Schumann and Granados.

The Liceu Jazz Grup concert scheduled for 8 pm has been cancelled.

Municipal Band and Contemporary Jazz

On 15 February at 11 am, the Barcelona Municipal Band will take part in the festival with the concert The Band at Festival Emergents, conducted by Adrià Cisneros and José R. Pascual-Vilaplana, featuring contemporary works by Víctor Visuerte, Martin Ellerby and Oliver Waespi.

The festival will close the same day at 7 pm with the Álvaro Ocón Quintet, presenting an intense and personal jazz proposal, transforming the lights and shadows of human experience into music.
