The historic horchatería and ice cream shop El Tío Che, located on the Rambla del Poblenou, has been recognized with the Relleu + Award at the 26th edition of the Barcelona Commerce Awards 2025, a distinction that honors businesses that have successfully achieved generational renewal or ownership transfer.
Founded in 1912 by a Valencian family, El Tío Che has become one of the neighborhood’s symbols and a benchmark of artisanal tradition in the city. With more than 110 years of history and five generations at the helm, the establishment has managed to preserve the essence and quality of its products while adapting to modern times, combining authenticity, innovation, and closeness to the local community.
The recognition, granted by the Barcelona City Council through the Department of Commerce, Catering, and Food, highlights the role of local commerce as an economic and social driver of the city.
From Poblenou Urban District, we celebrate this well-deserved recognition and congratulate the entire team for continuing to be an example of rootedness, dedication, and commitment to the neighborhood and to the city of Barcelona.
