The second edition of “<\/span>Design for Inclusion<\/i><\/b>, <\/span>the process as a result<\/i><\/b><\/a><\/span>“, an initiative of the <\/span>Museu del Disseny<\/b><\/a><\/span> and the association <\/span>Ojal\u00e1 Projects<\/b><\/a><\/span>, has arrived. This second edition features the participation of students from BAU, IED, LCI, the UOC and ESDAPC, who will carry out their product design and interior design projects together with visually impaired people (<\/span>ONCE<\/b><\/a><\/span>) and people in penitentiary social reintegration (<\/span>C\u00e1ritas<\/b><\/a><\/span>).<\/span><\/p>\n

“<\/span>Design for inclusion<\/i><\/b>” is a learning and co-creation project between students from various design universities and groups in vulnerable situations, which this year celebrates its second edition. The initiative is promoted by the <\/span>Museu del Disseny<\/b> and the <\/span>Ojal\u00e1 Projects Association<\/b> and aims to generate contexts of interaction, awareness, integration and debate using design methodologies for community empowerment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This second edition focuses on the fields of product design and interior design. One of the distinctive aspects of “Design for Inclusion” is the methodology applied throughout the project, which focuses on the process of mutual learning and the recognition of the diverse capacities of the participants in the co-creation work.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the one hand, several groups of students from <\/span>BAU<\/b><\/a><\/span> (Centro Universitario de Dise\u00f1o), <\/span>IED<\/b><\/a><\/span> (Centre Superior de Disseny), <\/span>LCI<\/b><\/a><\/span> (Escuela de Dise\u00f1o y Artes Visuales) and the <\/span>UOC<\/b><\/a><\/span> will develop their product design project with visually impaired people from the <\/span>ONCE<\/b> organization (for the inclusion of blind and disabled people). The students and the group will jointly explore how to respond to the difficulties that blind people have in relation to the objects that surround them in their daily lives. The co-creation sessions will take place every Wednesday between 2 March and 25 May. <\/span>Josep Novell<\/b>, product designer, will be the tutor for this project.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On the other hand, a group of students from <\/span>ESDAP Catalunya <\/b><\/a><\/span>(Escola Superior de Disseny i d’Arts Pl\u00e0stiques de Catalunya) will work on an interior design project with people undergoing social reintegration in prison for the <\/span>Caritas<\/b> association. In this case, the focus will be on understanding space as another element of <\/span>social integration<\/b>, promoting the concept of home. The co-creation sessions will take place every Tuesday from 1 March to 31 May with Dr. in architecture and ESDAPC teacher <\/span>Amaya Mart\u00ednez<\/b> as tutor.<\/span><\/p>\n

Apart from the co-creation sessions, the project also includes a series of <\/span>training sessions<\/b> to be held at the <\/span>Museu del Disseny<\/b>, and throughout the project the students and participants from the organizations will visit the Museum as a source of inspiration and an educational resource for their respective projects. On Tuesday 22 February, a training session was held on “<\/span>Psychology and Values<\/b>” and on Thursday 24 February the session was on “<\/span>Methodologies, Innovation and Social Design<\/b>“.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The project will culminate with the final presentation of the co-creation processes for all the groups during the first fortnight of June in the framework of the <\/span>Barcelona Design Week<\/b> (date to be confirmed).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“<\/span>Design for Inclusion<\/i><\/b>” is in line with the promotion of young talent and the reflection and promotion of social design promoted by the <\/span>Museu del Disseny<\/b><\/a><\/span> and <\/span>Disseny Hub Barcelona<\/b><\/a><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n
