The Fundaci\u00f3 Mies van der Rohe is curating the fourth edition of Living Places \u2013\u00a0Simon\u00a0Architecture\u00a0Prize <\/a>created in celebration of Simon’s 100th anniversary in 2016.<\/p>\n

This biennial competition is distinguished by its focus on the people who inhabit the architecture through the video format as a basic document to explain the use of space. Participation is free and allows anyone to propose works that they consider to be of interest.\u00a0Registration will be open until 15 September 2022<\/span>.<\/p>\n

This Award aims to recognise excellence in architecture. It distinguishes those works that enhance the adaptability of spaces to achieve the comfort and well-being of their inhabitants. Architecture that becomes places of quality for people’s daily lives: for working, learning, playing,… Architecture to be lived.
\nCollective places and personal places constitute the two categories around which the Prize is structured and reflect the interest in architecture designed and explained from the user’s perspective. An interest that focuses on the experiences that put the spaces to the test rather than on the degree 0 of architecture frozen in the instants prior to its delivery to society and the city.<\/p>\n

The focus on the inhabitant is also reflected in the methodology of the Prize. The video, considered as an instrument to bring architecture closer to the general public and to convey the atmosphere of the place, is the main document to be presented. The participation process involves users, inhabitants and citizens and allows them to propose works that they consider worthy of consideration by the jury.<\/p>\n

Living Places – Simon Architecture Prize is an initiative of Simon and is developed by the Fundaci\u00f3 Mies van der Rohe.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday 21 June at the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion, the call for entries for this edition was opened with “Living Architectures<\/a>“: a conversation between Carla Jua\u00e7aba (architect and president of the jury for the 2022 edition) and \u00c1ngela Garc\u00eda de Paredes (architect at Paredes Pedrosa and finalist in the 2016 edition).<\/p>\n
