Composers, often leaders of the <em>coblas<\/em>, transformed popular melodies into the main themes of their sardanas, especially arias and choruses from operas and zarzuelas.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"group\/conversation-turn relative flex w-full min-w-0 flex-col agent-turn\">\n<div class=\"flex-col gap-1 md:gap-3\">\n<div class=\"flex max-w-full flex-col flex-grow\">\n<div class=\"min-h-8 text-message flex w-full flex-col items-end gap-2 whitespace-normal break-words [.text-message+&amp;]:mt-5\" dir=\"auto\" data-message-author-role=\"assistant\" data-message-id=\"781d2308-0f8f-48fb-bb9a-97be4346c493\" data-message-model-slug=\"gpt-4o\">\n<div class=\"flex w-full flex-col gap-1 empty:hidden first:pt-[3px]\">\n<div class=\"markdown prose w-full break-words dark:prose-invert dark\">\n<p>In the first part of the concert, we present four pieces that exemplify this practice, along with a schottische and two habaneras by Ventura, originally composed for <em>cobla<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In the second part, we offer an immersion into the martial sounds that echoed in streets and squares: two sardanas on the <em>Fuego de la Bisbal<\/em> of 1869, one in memory of the Mallorcan brigadier Josep Cabrinetty\u2014killed by the Carlists under Francesc Savalls in the Battle of Alpens in 1873\u2014and another on the proclamation of the First Republic, featuring the tune of the <em>Himno de Riego<\/em>. The concert concludes with the instrumentation for <em>cobla<\/em> that Pep Ventura created for <em>La Marseillaise<\/em>, an emblematic anthem for the Ampurdanese Republicans well into the 20th century, which today is a musical and historical heritage piece we wish to share with all of you.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the mid-19th century, the sardana was a fashionable dance in Catalonia.
