Disseny Hub Barcelona presents Oh!Pera: newly created micro-operas that connect design and contemporary music

The DHub has once again become a stage for innovation and creativity with the presentation of Oh!Pera, a cycle of newly created micro-operas that breaks down barriers between artistic disciplines. This unique proposal brings together young talents from the worlds of contemporary opera and design to offer an immersive and multidisciplinary experience.

The initiative, a collaboration between the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC), the Mixtur Festival and DHub itself, aims to be a gateway into the world of opera for young creators from various artistic fields: composers, playwrights, performers, musicians and designers. It is a firm commitment to emerging talent and to a 21st-century opera that is more accessible, experimental and open to the future.

Each evening, three short operas —around thirty minutes each— are performed, conceived by emerging composers with promising careers and librettists connected to the contemporary theatre scene. For many of these creators, it is their first venture into the operatic genre, giving the works a fresh, bold and distinctive perspective. These pieces, designed as short-format micro-operas, offer audiences a sensory journey through various productions that challenge conventional formats. Each performance highlights the essential role of design in contemporary stage creation.

July 25, 26 and 27 at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. For more information and tickets, visit their website.
