The 8 scheduled artistic projects have a clear transformative vocation and explore social challenges through a critical lens. Escenaris de Llum will take place from October 17 to November 27 at the Carulla Foundation headquarters.
The Carulla Foundation presents the series Escenaris de Llum: Arts for Social Transformation. The initiative was created to give visibility to artistic projects that, beyond creation itself, aim to generate a real impact on society and help imagine fairer and more hopeful futures. The programme includes works from various disciplines —community theatre, live music, performance, and other hybrid formats— that address social issues of special relevance today, such as immigration, unwanted loneliness, climate change, and the search for identity.
In this first edition of Escenaris de Llum, audiences will encounter both established names and newer artistic proposals. The programme features (some still in progress) works by: Kamchàtka, Ada Vilaró, Companyia Brots, Teatro en Movimiento Callejerx, Acts of Liberation, LabOriosa, Gèls, and Neandertal Records.
The first activity will take place on Friday, October 17: a live session of the video podcast Mucha Plancha, by the collective Median T la Danza.
Programme:
Oct 17 – Mucha Plancha by Median T la Danza (6:00 pm). (Free)
Oct 24 – Terra en llibertat (Land in Freedom) by Teatro en Movimiento Callejerx (7:00 pm). (Free)
Oct 30 – LOVE by Acts of Liberation (7:00 pm).
Nov 7 – SOS Variations by Ada Vilaró (7:00 pm).
Nov 9 – For Rent: Chairs by LabOriosa (5:00 pm).
Nov 14 – Concert by Gèls, produced by Neandertal (7:00 pm).
Nov 21 – In Crescendo by Cia. Kamchàtka (7:00 pm).
Nov 27 – Sujeto by Cia. Brots, from Utopia Barcelona (7:00 pm).
Escenaris de Llum is also the starting point for a network of creators committed to social change who not only present their works at the foundation but also use its spaces during the project’s development months. Through this, the Carulla Foundation begins to build a community of artists who put their talent at the service of the common good and explore new ways to collectively, artistically, and consciously transform the present.
The goal of this new network is to connect artists, institutions, and audiences to create new forms of cooperation that ensure access to and active participation in culture for all citizens.
All performances will take place at the Carulla Foundation headquarters (C/ dels Almogàvers, 214) and have an entry fee of €3. With this initiative, the foundation promotes its new building as a cultural space open to the neighborhood and the wider community —a place for participation and collective debate. Tickets can be booked on their website.
