Premieres of the Week at Teatre Nacional de Catalunya

This week, prepare to explore the folds of the human soul through two proposals that, from opposing styles, seek beauty in complexity. The Catalan scene invites us to journey from the tragic epic of Faulkner to the poetics of the most intimate movement.

On March 4th, the week’s premieres with Absalon, Absalon!. In this piece, director Séverine Chavrier delves into the dense and complex universe of William Faulkner to offer a proposal of overwhelming force. The work focuses on Thomas Sutpen, a boy born into poverty who becomes a man craving social recognition; however, in a world marked by slavery and violence, his dreams of glory are doomed to failure. With the resonance of Greek tragedies, this four-voice narrative unfolds through a total staging that integrates theater, video, live music, and dance.

Next, on March 6th, it is the turn of Inestable, a creation that vindicates the beauty of imperfection and the greatness of simple things. The piece focuses on fragility and invites us to embrace what makes us uncomfortable as a path toward a deeper sensitivity. Lali Ayguadé, author, director, and choreographer of the production, fuses movement with theatrical elements, combining intense physicality with a poetic and universal stage language.
