LCI Barcelona will host the 7th BCN Fashion Symposium

On May 5 and 6, LCI Barcelona will host the 7th BCN Fashion Symposium.

Under the title THREADING FUTURES. Fashion Design and the Imaginaries of Tomorrow, this edition proposes exploring the intersection between fashion and speculative fiction as one of the most fertile methodological territories for critically examining the current conditions of the fashion system and imagining alternative futures capable of addressing the ecological, social, and technological crises of the 21st century.

The Symposium is structured around Fashion Futuring as a conceptual framework that understands fashion not only as a generator of forms, images, and products, but as a cultural ecosystem capable of activating collective narratives, materializing imaginaries, and testing social transformations in a saturated present.

The program will unfold over two distinct days: the first will be mainly dedicated to academic and theoretical reflection, while the second will focus on dialogue between academia and industry, strengthening the intersections between critical thinking and professional practice.

As the closing event of the Symposium, on May 6 the Felicidad Duce Award 2025 will be presented to fashion designer, entrepreneur, and photographer Ana Locking, recipient of the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts and the National Fashion Design Award. This distinction, promoted by LCI Barcelona, recognizes outstanding careers in the field of design and fashion.
