Artist Blanca Haddad presents a multidisciplinary proposal that uses the myth of the sphinx to explore the boundaries of justice, fear, and female empowerment. Since May 9th, La Plataforma gallery has hosted “Esfinges“, the artist’s latest project. Through a powerful combination of large-format paintings, text installations, poems, and self-portraits, the exhibition offers a deep reflection on the mythological figure of the sphinx, using it as a symbol for what the human mind perceives as incomprehensible or monstrous.
The exhibition stems from a psychological and philosophical premise: the immeasurable generates fear, yet it also serves as a threshold to knowledge and empowerment. Haddad appropriates the figure of the sphinx to explore the tension between desire and the forbidden. In her work, the artist transforms the enigmatic into an experience of catharsis, where confronting the “monster” does not lead to defeat, but rather to a form of self-discovery and the reclaiming of one’s own narrative.
With this multidisciplinary approach, Blanca Haddad consolidates her voice in the contemporary art scene, offering a must-see stop for those seeking art that combines visual strength with poetic density. The exhibition is now open in Poblenou until June 19th, where an exhibition catalogue is also available for those wishing to delve deeper into this universe of enigmas and self-portraits.
