Urban Talks celebrates its 10th edition at Disseny Hub Barcelona this coming Saturday

Driven by Poblenou Urban District in collaboration with Disseny Hub Barcelona, the Urban Talks gatherings reach their tenth edition this coming Saturday, October 24th.

Since their first edition, Urban Talks has established itself as a platform for collective reflection and an open meeting space where the public and professionals converse, share experiences, and exchange different perspectives. Designed to facilitate the exchange of ideas and gain insight into diverse realities, these gatherings foster new conversations about the transformations of our environment and the places we inhabit.

For this tenth edition, Urban Talks invites the audience to actively participate by sharing their questions and ideas directly with the invited creators and professionals. Curated and moderated by Jordi Pallarès (lecturer and researcher specializing in cultural mediation and contemporary artistic practices), the program explores the relationship between art, public space, community, and new creative contexts through three key panel discussions.

From 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, the day will open with the panel (Im)balance of cultural practices in public space, analyzing top-down and bottom-up management of artistic interventions in Barcelona. It will feature Ana Manaia and Xavi Ballaz (cultural managers and directors of B-Murals), visual artist Aleix Font, art historian and researcher Jaume Gómez, and the local cultural association La Clandestina de Poblenou.

Following this, from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM, the talk Territorial transformations through experience will explore how art and popular culture contribute to enhancing relationships with our surroundings. Speakers include artist and cultural manager Julio Loaiza, visual artist and psychologist Diana Rangel, philosopher, writer, and curator Gabriela Berti, and sound artist and composer Julio César Palacio.

At 2:00 PM, there will be a relaxed break for lunch and networking among all attendees.

Returning after lunch, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM, the session Art migrations in the Barcelona ecosystem will provide a platform for those navigating the artistic circuit from different contexts, featuring visual artists Valentina Alvarado Matos and Daniel Cao, alongside visual artist and editorial designer Teresa Mulet.

Finally, starting at 5:30 PM, Venezuelan artist and cultural manager Julio Loaiza will present his work, sharing his projects and vision of art as a tool for transformation. The event will conclude with a participatory performance led by the artist himself.
