The Fundació Vila Casas has begun celebrating its 40th anniversary with an evening at the Museu Can Framis, held last Thursday, 29 October, bringing together music, light, art and gastronomy.
The evening was also an opportunity to pay tribute to pharmacist and entrepreneur Antoni Vila Casas and reflect on the Foundation’s journey since its establishment in 1986. Today, it stands as one of the leading institutions promoting Catalan contemporary art and supporting healthcare initiatives. Performances by Myriam Swanson, Mishima, Maria Rodés, Claraguilar and Magalí Sare, accompanied by a DJ set by Sonido Tupinamba, provided the soundtrack to the celebration. The visual concept was created by Tom Carr, whose lighting installation transformed the museum’s façade and interior spaces. Gastronomy completed the experience with a special contribution by artist Bernat Daviu, who also designed the commemorative cake and the waiters’ uniforms.

Four museums open their doors to everyone
Following the celebration, the Foundation wants to share this anniversary with the public. On 7 and 8 November, all four museums will open their doors with free admission and guided tours, offering an opportunity to discover their collections, spaces and different perspectives on contemporary art.
The initiative aims to bring the Foundation’s cultural heritage closer to new audiences and reaffirm museums as spaces for meeting, exchange and connection with the local community.
A tribute to Robert Llimós at the Museu Can Framis through a new exhibition
Art will remain at the heart of the anniversary celebrations with the opening, on 9 November at 7 pm, of the exhibition Isn’t There Enough Eyes on the Face Yet?, dedicated to Robert Llimós. The exhibition, which will be held at the Museu Can Framis, was initially conceived to highlight a key period in his career and now becomes a tribute to the artist and his legacy.
Curated by Blanca Arias, the exhibition revisits the work Llimós produced between the late 1960s and early 1970s, during a pivotal period for Catalan conceptual art. Through sculpture, painting, performance and language, the exhibition explores a period defined by experimentation and the search for new forms of expression.
Beyond revisiting a specific decade, the exhibition offers insight into an attitude that ran throughout his work: a persistent questioning of established languages and a constant desire to explore new paths in image-making. From 14 November, guided tours will be organised to explore the exhibition in greater depth and uncover the key aspects of this period in his career.
Throughout 2027, the Foundation will roll out new activities and initiatives as part of the anniversary celebrations, which will be announced in the coming months.
