Artec Studio inaugurates two works in iGuzzini’s exhibition space in Spain

Congratulations to Maurici Ginés, lighting designer and founder of Artec Studio. Two works from his “Instantes” collection, created for the “Echoes of a Land” exhibition at the Mexico Pavilion at La Biennale di Venezia 2018, will become part of the permanent exhibition space at iGuzzini‘s headquarters in Spain.

The “Instantes” collection presents three works that are part of a journey comprising three “instants” of light in the Gilardi House. An instant is linked to an emotion that in turn evokes memories. “These works are small containers of the flashes of light one experiences inside Barragan’s Casa Gilardi, which can also be found in the colorful Mexican villages and architecture.” Maurici Ginés

Commissioned by INBA director Gabriela Gil and curated by Gabriela Etchegaray, the works were part of the exhibition “Echoes of a Land” at the Mexican Pavilion at La Biennale di Venezia (26.05 – 25.11, 2018). The materials used are transparent methacrylate, aluminum, steel, dichroic glass, filters and LEDs.

Maurici Ginés, a lighting design professional for more than 20 years, created Artec Studio in 1998 with the aim of introducing and promoting the profession of independent lighting design in Spain. He has numerous national and international awards to his name and his work has been widely published. Today with Artec Studio, they work with light, developing architectural lighting design projects, creating light-art works and luminaires, from their offices in Barcelona, Mexico City, Madrid and New York.

Artec Studio’s goal is to offer its clients all the potential that embodied light can provide, creating works that connect space with people and corporate and institutional identities, fostering perception, knowledge and emotion.

The exhibition at iGuzzini can be visited (by appointment) from Friday 10 June at iGuzzini illuminazione Ibérica, Av. de la Generalitat 168-170, Sant Cugat Del Vallès.
