BAU will participate to the World Conference on Higher Education

A great opportunity for BAU Centro Universitario de Diseño de Barcelona, which has been selected as the only university representative in arts and design for the third World Conference on Higher Education.

The event, convened by UNESCO, will take place in Barcelona from May 18 to 20, 2022 and will be under the slogan “Reinventing higher education for a sustainable future“, which is part of the United Nations’s 2030 Agenda. The objective of the conference will be to debate and reflect on the challenges of education in the upcoming decades, with focuses on topics such as the impact of covid, inclusion, academic mobility, governance, financing, data management and international cooperation.

As the only university representative in arts and design, BAU Centro Universitario de Diseño will play a prominent role. On the one hand, it will bring researchers, professors and students to the table who will contribute to the debate on the future of higher education. On the other hand, five final degree projects will be presented (from the Degrees in Graphic, Audiovisual, Spaces, Fashion and Transversal), which highlight topics such as: gender and language policies, technology and environment, sustainability and circular economy, generational creativity and culture, and art and feminism.

The EXOHIVE project has also been presented, created within the framework of the Master in Audiovisual Innovation and Interactive Environments by alumni Javi Albo and Heidi Valda. The interactive and immersive installation, presented at the latest edition of Sónar+D and during the Poblenou Open Night, simulates a conversation with an alien creature.

In addition, in the framework of a conference that took place on November 28 and 29 at the University of Barcelona, Carla Boserman, artist and BAU professor, live-drew a series of narratives about the exhibitions. This graphic chronicle will be exhibited at UNESCO’s Paris headquarters and will be the subject of a joint publication.
