Casino L’Aliança celebrates the Poblenou Festa Major with music and culture

The Poblenou Festa Major arrives at Casino L’Aliança with a full programme of activities. Music, theatre, sardanas, cinema and exhibitions come together in a programme designed to bring people together and celebrate the neighbourhood.

Thursday, 10 September – 10 pm

Vespreig de Festa Major

More than a traditional envelat, Casino L’Aliança presents its own updated version: a large vespreig — an evening dance party — to dance the night away and officially kick off the Poblenou Festa Major.

From 10 pm to 2 am, the Sala Gran Teatre will become a dance floor, with music from the 70s, 80s and 90s in a DJ set by Juan Carlos (former resident DJ at the legendary Luz de Gas), getting the festivities off to a flying start.

Sunday, 13 September – 6 pm

Sarsuela & Strass

Glamour, humour and lyrical music return to the stage at l’Aliança with Sarsuela & Strass, a show that brings back the spirit of the much-celebrated Visca la Sarsuela! from the 2024 Festa Major.

Thanya Santos “La Revoltosa” and Joan Garcia Gomà will offer an afternoon of humour, sequins and more than a few surprises. The show will also feature Jordi Romero on piano and the ballet company The Wild Cherries.

Monday, 14 September – 6 pm

Diada Sardanista de l’Aliança

Catalan traditional culture will also have its place in the Festa Major with a practical sardana workshop led by SomSardana. The workshop is designed both for those taking their first steps and for anyone looking to brush up their skills and overcome their hesitation about joining the circle. At 7 pm, live music by Cobla Mediterrània will accompany the traditional dance in an activity open to everyone.

Tuesday, 15 September – 2 pm

Club dels 60 Lunch

Club dels 60 will organise a special lunch to commemorate the centenary of Ramon Turró, with the presence of the great-grandson of the distinguished scientist, biologist and philosopher. The event will offer attendees the opportunity to learn more about his life and legacy in a celebratory setting.

Tuesday, 15 September – 7 pm

Festa Major Cinema: Morir no sempre surt bé

The Festa Major film programme presents Morir no sempre surt bé, directed by Claudia Pinto, a darkly humorous comedy with dramatic elements revolving around a situation that is as absurd as it is complicated.

Thursday, 17 September – 8 pm

Concert by the Barcelona Municipal Band

Music will once again take centre stage with the traditional Festa Major concert by the Barcelona Municipal Band, in an event organised by the Coordinadora d’Entitats del Poblenou.

Friday, 18 and Saturday, 19 September

Barcelona Lindy Exchange

Swing and dancing will take over the Casino during this two-day event with the Barcelona Lindy Exchange, bringing together enthusiasts of Lindy Hop and swing culture.

Sunday, 20 September – 6:30 pm

Festa Major Closing Event

The Festa Major will come to an end with a taste of the sea, courtesy of Port Bo, the trio that will bring the programme to a close with a traditional habanera concert.

Aliança Art Exhibition: “Local Talent, at Home”

Throughout the week, visitors will be able to enjoy this exhibition featuring graphic works, paintings and sculptures created by the organisation’s own members during the course of this year.
