Disseny / Art 2 years

Disseny Hub Barcelona will be the venue for Art Photo Bcn

The ninth edition of Art Photo Bcn comes with new features. This festival, conceived as one of the city’s benchmark festivals, is a meeting point for authors, the art circuit and lovers of contemporary photography to discover, share and enjoy photography. One of the novelties is the new location of the A-FAD. The space chosen will be the Disseny Hub Barcelona, which will host the bulk of the activities of this event from 8 to 11 September.

Another of the novelties is that Art Photo Bcn will be debuting a new concept of Fair, in which 18 exhibitors will present a single project under the curatorship of Vicenç Boned. Among the most prominent will be Carles Taché, although local, national and international galleries such as Valid Foto and Il Mondo, along with younger galleries such as L&B Gallery and Alalimón Galería, will also have their space. We will also see initiatives that move among emerging authors, such as Metro Galería from Santiago de Compostela, with Ana Gil, or Photographic Social Vision, with the consecrated Ferran Freixa, and Doka Gallery from Rotterdam, with the interesting Robin Ek, or the Madrid platform Photential, with the project by Mengwen Cao Liminal Space.

In addition, festival-goers will also have access to the Photobook Market, a space dedicated to the world of the photobook. In addition, this proposal will include guided visits with recommendations from three experts from the world of publishing, Mariela Sancari, from the Centro de la Imagen in Mexico City, Mateo Pérez, coordinator of Can Basté, and Vicenç Boned, photobook collector. Among the participants, we highlight the involvement of Eva Blanes, partner of A-FAD, who will present her creative dimension related to the world of publishing and self-publishing.

Throughout the three days of the festival, the Disseny Hub will also host presentations on portraiture or participatory photography, workshops on copyright and image rights, creative portraiture and the photobook, and viewings. The projects selected from a total of 95 proposals received are Tacaná by Antonio Rodríguez, The visible is seen until the end, by Carlos Barradas, PAUL, by Cristina Galán, Las flores mueren dos veces, by Cristóbal Ascensio Ramos, Mr. Stupid, by Ignacio Navas, Already But Not Yet, by Jordi Barreras, Los hijos del Ciervo, by José Luis Carrillo Reche, El hilo de Ariadna, by Laura F. Izuzquiza and Renascence, by Rocío Bueno.

Outside Disseny Hub Barcelona, the festival expands through the associated venues of the Barcelona Civic Centre Network with a circuit of exhibitions, activities and workshops with the aim of making photography visible throughout the city.
