BAU students collaborate with the Liceu in (ÒH!)PERA

Students from BAU, Centro Universitario de Artes y Diseño de Barcelona, along with other design centers, will participate in the project of the Gran Teatro del Liceu (ÒH!)PERA, an initiative based on the creation of four new small-format operas that will premiere at the theater on July 9 and 10.

The project counts with the collaboration of the Department of Tourism and Creative Industries of the Barcelona City Council and Disseny Hub Barcelona, and aims to promote student learning through experimentation, being a unique opportunity to demonstrate the talent of future professionals in the sector.

The students selected to participate have worked for more than a year in the production of the operas, of about 30 minutes long, dealing with areas such as the design of the scenic space, costumes, lighting or audiovisual design. They have had the opportunity to produce together with professionals from the stage direction sector such as Neo Albet, Alícia Serrat, Marc Chornet and Silvia Delagneau, all of them with different styles to promote diverse aesthetic proposals.

In the case of BAU, the students involved have participated with the composer Marc Migó, stage director Sílvia Delagneau and the designer of ephemeral spaces Núria Torrell in the opera The Fox Sisters, which tells the story of the three sisters who gave name to spiritualism in the mid-nineteenth century.

The four operas developed will be performed during the same evening, but in different spaces of the theater: in the Foyer Room, the Miralls Room and the Conservatory Teatrino. It is through this walk through the Liceu that the spectators will be able to experience up close the stories of voices trapped in their traumas, unspeakable secrets or impossible dreams.

This is the artistic description of the four operas in creation, which will have a total duration of approximately 2 hours and a half:
