Cartography is constantly reinvented by the escapes that draw it.
The Teatre Nacional de Catalunya premieres the play ‘Inventari de fugues’, a collective creation by Amaya Galeote, Shaday Larios, Judith Pujol, and María Velasco, which addresses how “escapes” shape and transform our world and our present.
A map. A journey through stories about escapes. Those who flee do so from somewhere, something, or someone, often developing a personal map through trial and error. The itinerary of the escape is incongruous, the instructions are meant for getting lost, and the route seems impossible.
Based on everyday objects, which serve as the footprint of these human displacements, the show tells the stories of these migrations and their physical, emotional, and political consequences in a world full of pressures and boundaries.
On stage, four performers —Xavi Álvarez, Ricard Boyle, Laia Marull, and Lara Salvador Peydró—, dancer Dasha Lavrennikov, and the participation of the Coral Sant Jordi.
This piece aims to explore the tension between stability and instability; between the desire to evade and the need to survive; between bodies that can choose to move and bodies forced to do so. Bodies turned into commodities, into borders, into traces. Escape is no longer just a movement: it is a political, economic, and emotional structure.
The production is running at the Sala Tallers of the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya until June 21.
