La Plataforma gallery opens “Ephemeral Beings” by Bigum+Björge on Friday, June 7
This Friday, June 7, La Plataforma gallery opens “Ephemeral Beings” by Bigum+Björge, from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. The gallery’s new exhibition features the Berlin-based Danish artist duo of visual artist Anders Bigum and designer Gry Björge, who will be present during the opening of the exhibition.
Bigum+Björge invite us on a visual journey that explores the deep connection between humanity and nature. Through their photographs, they meticulously capture ephemeral sculptures inspired by folkloric tradition, where tales and myths are used to illuminate the mysteries of the unknown, honoring nature as the ultimate foundation of human imagination.
Through their works, the duo investigates the paradox of beings that, although they do not physically exist, come to life in our imagination, literature, mythology or dreams; and the moment something exists in our imagination, it acquires a form of reality.
For the creation of their pieces they employ non-toxic photographic processes and alternative development techniques that minimize environmental impact, ensuring that their artwork is sustainable. The exhibition not only explores the intersection between imagination and reality, but also emphasizes a responsible approach to the environment. It invites viewers to reflect on the power of storytelling and the importance of environmental conservation, through images where nature is intertwined with tales and imagination.
“Unknown creatures, ephemeral beings observing us from a distant past or resonating
from a distant past or resonating as echoes of a distant future.
distant future. Immortalized through a series of photographs,
they present a glimpse into an imaginary world,
a world deeply connected to nature.”
