La Platforma opens “Parafernalia”, the individual exhibition of the artist Jan Vallverdú

An exhibition that delves into the search for everything that is excessive and superfluous. He reflects on the artist’s concerns through pictorial language: a medium that serves to represent the tensions, contradictions and paradoxes of his own experience.

Through a baroque staging, he delights in the mixture of colors, textures and effects, in the fragment, instability and excess. A painting against the current, which seeks the recovery of the medium, the matter and the object.

The exhibition opens on 24 March at 7 p.m. and will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Monday to Friday until 22 April.

Jan Vallverdú (Barcelona, 1995), graduated in Illustration and Arts applied to the Wall at L’Escola Superior de Disseny i Art Llotja in Barcelona. He works with mixed techniques on medium and large formats. He develops characters starting from figurative elements to transform them into an antithesis to worship, perfection and beauty.

He begins his artistic career through mural painting in urban art groups in Barcelona. Accustomed to large formats, a very characteristic line is presented with strength and presence in any of its multiple supports. His color palette is varied, but always wrapped in a dark and disturbing atmosphere.

In 2020 she was part of the Windows Art Circuit / WAC, an initiative of the Poblenou Urban District with the aim of exhibiting the work of emerging artists in different formats. The sixth edition of the WAC was the first of its kind, since given the external circumstances of the pandemic caused by Covid-19, the annual circuit took the form of an artists’ laboratory where Jan Vallverdú was able to develop a piece for a week, the same one that was exhibited the day of the event within the framework of the Open Day Open Night 12hrs non-stop.

In December of that same year he was selected to participate as an emerging artist in the collective exhibition La Plataforma: Arte & Venta.

In 2021 he participated in Art Nou, a program presented by Art Barcelona to make the work of young creators visible. Since then his work has reached an international level, with a presence in Austria thanks to a mural.
