The Photographic Archive of Barcelona presents “La ciutat davant la càmera. Imaginaris urbans al segle XIX”.
From June 17, the Photographic Archive of Barcelona host the exhibition La ciutat davant la càmera. Imaginaris urbans al segle XIX, which emphasizes the transformation that the city of Barcelona underwent at an urban and social level as a result of the modernization processes of industrialization and the bourgeois revolution.
A collection that includes more than 100 nineteenth-century originals from the AFB collection and photographic albums of the time, which also reflects the great changes in photographic technique, incorporating new visual resources of the camera and other technologies, and which highlights the relationship established at that time between the new Barcelona and its visual representation.
An era in which photography played a decisive role in implementing the social, political and cultural ideas of the city as a result of the circulation and dissemination of images.
