Fundació Carulla presents «Sostenim Vida», photography on community and care

On 9 September, the Fundació Carulla will open «Sostenim Vida», a large-format photography exhibition created together with a group of women from Poblenou as part of the «Gent del Barri 2026» programme.

Who sustains life in the neighbourhood when no one is looking? This question lies at the heart of a collective creative project that brings to the forefront what often remains invisible: care, relationships, memories and the everyday knowledge that makes community life possible.

Over several months, the programme participants have shared flavours, memories, objects, experiences and meaningful places in Poblenou. They have explored the neighbourhood from a different perspective, exchanging experiences and talking about what they wanted to explain, remember and make visible. This creative process has enabled them to incorporate new ways of looking at and relating to their surroundings, highlighting the stories and experiences that are part of everyday life in the neighbourhood.

The result is «Sostenim Vida», a large-format photography exhibition that takes over the public space and transforms the façade of the Fundació Carulla into a place for encounter and reflection. The exhibition offers a perspective shaped by the neighbourhood itself and by the experiences of its residents: an invitation to pause, observe and recognise everything that surrounds us, while highlighting the care networks and relationships that make community life possible.

The initiative is part of the Fundació Carulla’s commitment to understanding culture as a driver of social transformation and collective creation, supporting projects that bring together new perspectives, experiences and ways of creating.

The opening of «Sostenim Vida» will take place on 9 September on the façade of the Fundació Carulla, located at Almogàvers, 214, Poblenou, and will include a public street event featuring a large shared table that will bring together the participants, local residents, and attendees as part of the Poblenou Festival.
