Theater and music at the TNC

This week the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya presents a variety of theatrical proposals, between Poetry Slam and the theater show El pes d’un cos, two completely different performances that we present below.

The TNC has organized for this Saturday May 14 a hip hop concert in which some essentials of the Catalan scene of the moment as Joina and Senyor Oca, musical formations with their own style, which will be preceded by the presentation of the event and the Poetry Slam by Isa Garcia, Crisal Rodriguez and Adriana Bertran Anía, three female voices referents of scenic poetry where their verses transmit and unite the personal and political, all converging on issues such as human bonds, feminism and social criticism. At the end of the performances, there will be an open mic session with the aim of generating a space for reflection so that the audience can improvise their creations.

With the turn of the century, the hip hop scene in Catalonia, as well as rap, pop, reggae or drum’n’bass, has atomized in a lot of new names that have made social networks their place of dissemination and exchange. A culture that continues to grow among young people, who find in this discipline a form of artistic and vital expression. In relation to Poetry Slam, it is a contemporary genre that mixes scenic poetry and oral literature in a competitive format, created from the simplicity of uniting a text (poem) and the recital (performance).
