Last days to visit “Playhouse” at La Plataforma

La Plataforma resumes its activity after the summer break with ‘Playhouse’, an exhibition by Turkish artist Ece Haskan, on view until September 10.

The exhibition has been part of the 15th edition of Art Nou, the emerging art festival of Barcelona and L’Hospitalet, whose programme comes to an end this week. The festival’s closing event will take place today, September 3, at 7:00 pm at La Capella, featuring a performance by artist Blanca Tolsà Rovira. However, the closing of Art Nou does not mark the end of ‘Playhouse’: the exhibition will remain open at La Plataforma and can be visited until September 10.

‘Playhouse’ explores the home as a space of identity, memory and belonging. Through paintings, drawings and installations, Ece Haskan draws on the childhood game of “playing house” to reflect on family relationships, social roles and the experiences that shape us from childhood into adulthood.

Using a surrealist, illustration-inspired visual language, the artist also addresses migration and the feeling of being constantly on the move, questioning what transforms a space into a home and how the places we inhabit shape our identity. Based in Istanbul, Haskan works across painting, sculpture and installation, combining irony, everyday life and social narratives.
