A July full of theater on the rooftop of the Fundació Carulla

The Fundació Carulla team is not known for staying still when summer arrives. That is why, once again this year, they are collaborating with Terrats en Cultura to fill their rooftop in Poblenou with open-air theater and music. Four shows to experience culture from the heights.

Inside the room, someone is having a birthday. It doesn’t matter how old they are turning because every birthday contains all the birthdays we have lived and those we will live. Jolgorio is conceived as a theatrical experience where documentary and fiction come together to create a ritual where the actress and the audience can heal, imagine ourselves as a society, and jump between timelines.

La Bella Otero
Thursday 09/07 at 8:00 PM

A monologue that laughs at its own megalomania, inviting us to reflect on the prevailing narcissism of our time and the human desire to leave a mark. In this monologue, written entirely in verse and filled with satire, wordplay, and metatheater, we will see how the protagonist’s fascination with the figure of Herostratus progressively becomes an obsession, eventually leading him to commit a crime worthy of his infamous idol.

Oye Shermann and Esther López
Friday 10/07 at 8:00 PM

Stand-up comedy returns to Terrats en Cultura, but with an unexpected twist: a face-to-face showdown between comedian Oye Sherman and actress Esther López. Together, the comedian and the actress will challenge each other to re-interpret traditional, lifelong jokes, each from their own unique perspective. How far will they be able to stretch a type of humor that is familiar to all of us? We don’t know, but what we do know is that it will be a memorable and hilarious “battle,” with so much talent on stage! To top it all off, the face-to-face will be accompanied by a wine tasting from D.O. Catalunya: a unique pairing for an evening that promises to be unforgettable!

Daniel Lumbreras
Wednesday 15/07 at 8:00 PM

Using his voice as just another instrument, Daniel Lumbreras focuses all expressiveness on the musicality of sound: he doesn’t sing in any language, yet everyone can understand him. The songs he presents at Terrats en Cultura are part of a research project in which he studies the relationship between painting and music from the perspective of the philosophy of language, emphasizing the phenomenon of glossolalia. During the concert, between songs, Daniel will provide context for this magical and unusual universe.
