DHub celebrates the creative spirit of Catalan architecture with Seny i rauxa
At DHub Barcelona, Catalan architecture takes center stage this summer withSeny i rauxa. Notícia de l’arquitectura catalana, an exhibition running from May 22 to September 6, 2026. The exhibition invites visitors into a world where precision and instinct, tradition and avant-garde coexist, offering a journey that reaffirms architecture as one of the country’s most powerful cultural expressions.
Curated by Joan Roig, Carme Ribas and Victòria Garriga, the exhibition traces a living connection between the founding of the School of Architecture in 1875 and contemporary architectural practices. Rather than following a conventional chronological narrative, the exhibition adopts a thematic approach that creates unexpected dialogues between works from different periods, architects and ways of understanding space.
Featuring nearly four hundred pieces, the exhibition brings together sketches, plans, models and photographs that reveal the creative process behind architecture. It also includes paintings, sculptures, furniture and design pieces that highlight the close relationship between architecture and the visual arts.
The idea of “seny i rauxa” — a balance between reason and boldness — serves as the exhibition’s central theme, reflecting the unique ability of Catalan architecture to combine rigor with experimentation, and balance with audacity. The result is an immersive and collective exhibition that not only revisits Catalonia’s architectural legacy, but also invites visitors to reflect on how the spaces we inhabit shape our identity and the way we imagine the future.
