BAU Professional Day 2024: From Book to Screen

El Meu Primer Festival de Cinema and the Stop Motion Master’s Program at Bau Centre Universitari de Disseny present the 2024 Professional Day: From Book to Screen, an event dedicated to exploring the creative process of adapting children’s literary stories into films.

This activity is aimed at screenwriters, directors, producers, and other professionals interested in audiovisual creation.

PROGRAM

4:30 PM | From Picture Book to Short Film
Chelo Loureiro will share her experience adapting Yo voy conmigo (I Go with Me). This short film reflects on self-esteem and self-love, exemplifying how to bring the essence of an illustrated story to the screen while maintaining its sensitivity and visual impact.

5:00 PM | Adapting a Finnish Literary Classic
Veronica Lassenius will discuss her involvement as a director in adapting the renowned Finnish children’s classic The Moomins.

5:30 PM | Coffee Break
A space to relax and network with other professionals in an informal setting.

6:00 PM | From Young Adult Novel to Feature Film
A special focus on the adaptation of La película de la vida (The Movie of Life), featuring the director of the feature film Olívia y el terremoto invisible (Olivia and the Invisible Earthquake), Irene Iborra, and the book’s author, Maite Carranza. The session will explore how this young adult story made its leap to the big screen, focusing on creative decisions and critical moments in the process.
