¿Quién temía a la IA? BAU invites you to reflect on the future of creativity and technology

The debate over artificial intelligence has sparked all kinds of opinions: from catastrophic visions to those seeing it as the solution to every problem. To bring these concepts down to earth, the next edition of Interferències will take place on April 28th at 17:30 at BAU’s multipurpose space (Espai Polivalente). The session, titled “¿Quién temía a la IA?” (Who was afraid of AI?), will focus on how this technology directly affects the work of designers and artists.

The conversation will feature Alejandra López Gabrielidis, doctoral coordinator at BAU, and José Luis de Vicente, artistic director and former director of the Museu del Disseny. Both will analyze practical issues concerning the sector, such as the ownership of ideas, changes in workflow, and the future of authorship in projects involving machine intervention. The goal is to demystify AI and understand its real impact on education and today’s job market.

This dialogue does not seek to provide definitive answers but rather to encourage reflection on the future of creative work and artistic training. Instead of debating whether AI is good or bad, the discussion will focus on how to manage its presence now that it is already part of the creative reality.
