A February full of activities at DHub

The month of February arrives at the Disseny Hub Barcelona packed with new activities for all audiences: new family workshops, talks and conferences, guided visits, and exhibitions!

Workshop: Sweeping Close to Home!

This family activity invites participants to rediscover the hand broom made of plant fibers as an everyday object full of possibilities. The experience begins with a visit to the exhibition Matter Matters. Designing with the World, where children will learn about objects made from natural materials and understand how they are transformed into useful and beautiful tools.
Afterwards, in a hands-on workshop led by the DHub education team and conceived by Ona Trepat, participants will create their own small broom using knots and ingenuity. A proposal to learn, create, and play, aimed at children aged 6 to 12.

Sundays, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm

The film explores Tusquets’ relationship with the city, his references, his creative obsessions, and the thread that connects all facets of his work. Tuesday, February 10, 5:45 pm

Elisava Masters’ Talks | Karel Martens & Thomas Castro

The meeting is based on the exhibition Karel Martens: Unbound, a major retrospective dedicated to Martens’ work and curated by Castro at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. During the session, both speakers will conduct a flip-through of nearly 200 pages of Martens’ work, inviting the audience to join an open conversation full of anecdotes, reflections, and unpublished materials from his personal archive.

This session is aimed at students, professionals, and anyone interested in graphic design, visual culture, and contemporary creative processes, reinforcing the DHub’s commitment as a space for meeting, thinking, and debate around design.

Key topics addressed during the session include:

Sustainable Challenge

An international program of experimentation in sustainable fashion that explores new ways to repair, transform, and give garments a second life. Guided by curator Amy Twigger, the project imagines a speculative fashion system in which mending, repairing, and reusing become central creative practices.

The exhibition also includes some of the transformations created during the project’s second challenge: interventions on personal garments contributed by attendees of the inaugural masterclass, focused specifically on creative repair in fashion.

Dates: 18/02 – 06/04
